Application for Admission to the School of Graduate Studies
Create an account online and complete the general application for graduate admission. Be sure to select "Biomedical Sciences Training Program" as their Academic Program in the "Enrollment Information" section. Then, select Pharmacology as a Priority Program of Interest (PPI) in the Supplemental portion of the BSTP application form. Once you have an account, you can at any time save your partially completed application and return later to update. Letters of Recommendation can be requested and submitted through this site.
Statement of Objectives
The statement should be one or two pages when printed. It should include your purpose in undertaking graduate work, and an explanation of your study and research interests as they relate to your undergraduate/graduate study and professional goals.
Official score reports of all standardized tests (GRE, TOEFL, etc.) designated for receipt by the university (School Code 1105, Department Code 0613) will be coordinated with your application by the Graduate Studies Office. The GRE is required for the MTTP program. While there is no minimum score required, the higher the score, the more competitive the application.
International students whose first language is not English must demonstrate English proficiency by taking the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam and earn a minimum score of 577 (paper) or 90 (iBT). We cannot admit applicants to full standing without receipt of an acceptable official TOEFL score.
A nonrefundable application fee of $50 is required to submit an online application to Case Western Reserve University. Our online application will accept payment by credit card or by online check (U.S. banks only).
Check the online application or contact the department to check the status of your application.
If you are admitted into the program, you are admitted only for the term specified in the letter of admission. If you are unable to enroll in the semester for which you were initially admitted, you may request to postpone matriculation up to two regular academic semesters. In such cases, the department may accept or reject your request, and the terms of readmission may differ from the original offer. If a delay of more than two semesters is requested, your file must be reviewed and reevaluated by the department. If more than two years elapse since acceptance, you must reapply in the same manner as a new applicant. Because non-enrolled applicant files are only kept for a maximum of two years, all documentation will have to be resubmitted.
The Department of Pharmacology provides financial aid to all students admitted to the Ph.D. program. Some aid is restricted to U.S. citizens. U.S. citizens can also apply for Federal financial aid and receive student loans. For information contact the Financial Aid Office, 417A Yost, 216-368-4530.
