A Successful Dissertation!

Melissa Shelton had a well defended dissertation entitled "Glutaredoxin-Regulated Nuclear Factor-κβ (NFκβ) Signaling in Retinal Müller Glial Cells Treated with High Glucose, a Model of Diabetic Retinopahty." Melissa leaves with not only her PhD but many memories in the Department of Pharmacology!

Off to bigger and better things...

VivianVivian Gama will be leaving our department after successfully defending her dissertation "Characterization and Regulation of the Anti-apoptotic Protein Ku70 - Implications for Bax-mediated Apoptosis." Her contributions to the department have been immeasurable and we wish her the best in her scientific career.

Hui Wang successfully defeated his defense entitled "The roles of a LIM domain protein, Hic-5 / ARA55, in TGF-β signaling in prostate cancer cells."  We wish him the best as he continues his research in Biostatistics!

SURP Comes to an End...

At the final poster presentations, 8 summer researchers presented their findings and results.  The students all did a great job and hopefully learned a lot over the last 10 weeks!

Congratulations!

Smitha Sripathy successfully defended her dissertation, "Mechanisms of Transcriptional Regulation: Gene Repression by KRAB Zinc Finger Proteins and Gene Induction by Estrogen Receptor Beta" on July 14, 2008. We wish her the best in her future Postdoctoral career!
